Self-care is often watered down to a face mask and a bubble bath, and while those are great, you can always cater to your wellness to treat more specific concerns and stressors. Check out these five ideas to make your self-care more intentional.
A movie night is always a great way to take care of yourself. If you need to cry, but truly can’t get it out try watching something emotional that will get those tears flowing. If you’re healing your inner child, watch a children’s movie, new or old. If you just need to laugh pull out your favorite comedy. If you need to embrace intimacy, try a romance.
I love reading a book that let’s be just, escape. Every book does not have to be self-help, introspective, or the greatest novel was ever written. Pick up something fun and dive into it. The best genres for this are simple fantasy books and romantic comedies.
When you move your body, you feel better, it’s literal science. But, when we talk about movement, we should all embrace more fun with it. Take a dance class, do a dance video workout on Youtube, do some yoga, or go for a walk. The most important aspect is having fun and moving your body.
Meditation and I have had a long journey, and I am finally turning the corner. Meditation lets you refocus, it can help you relax, and even improve confidence. Try taking a few minutes to meditate when you need it.
This one is easier said than done, but choose yourself above all else. What is the best choice for you? Choose that. While there is definitely a balance, a lot of us can benefit from this approach. If it’s best for you to stay in more often, don’t let anyone pressure you to come out for fun.
