Last week, Amazon Prime finally released the TV adaptation of one of my favorite childhood book series, The Summer I Turned Pretty. And I loved it! Here’s four reasons you should give it a try!
It’s the Perfect Summer Show
This show makes me wish I spent my childhood/teenage summers in a small, wealthy beach town too. The parties were fun, there was shopping, and the pool at the beach house was gorgeous. I was very jealous of Belly and the crew, as was my husband.
The Soundtrack is Incredible
I literally don’t know how they got the rights to all those songs, but they have bangers throughout the entire season. It adds to how fun it is to watch and helps immerse you into the vibrant young adult life thriving in Cousins Beach.
It’s Very Bingeable
I watched the season in a night, that’s how easy it is to binge-watch this show. I loved the characters, even though no one is perfect, they’re likable and you can see where they come from. That makes it pallatable because it’s peaceful and well-written without being boring.
The book is Awesome
Is this super relevant to the tv show? Maybe, maybe not. But if this show gets you to read the books then that’s a win for me. Also, they’re written by the same author as the To All The Boys series so you know they’re a fun time.
