14 Awesome Recommendations for Your Workday Playlist

I love listening to anything at work, YouTube videos, podcasts, music, and even audiobooks. You name it, I’ll listen. But, if you’re wondering what to play in your headphones during the workday I’m sharing a couple of recommendations for anyone to check out!

If you like Podcasts try…

Pretty Committee Bookcast

Of course, I had to plug my own podcast! This one is perfect for the book lover who doesn’t want to listen to an actual audiobook. Definitely check out some of my favorites first: Legendborn, Percy Jackson Book 1, and Twilight.

Welcome to the OC Bitches

If you love The OC as I do then this is a great podcast for you. Two stars of the iconic series (and a few special guests) take a stroll down memory lane while rewatching the show. Be sure to start with the Pilot.

Fanti

Fanti is a great podcast about social issues and pop culture that dissects both sides of the argument. Hosted by two Black, queer hosts these conversations with occasional experts depending on the topic. Some of the most interesting discussions include fatphobia, Jussie Smollett, and Nicki Minaj.

If you like YouTube Video Essays…

Wait in the Wings

This one is for the theater kids! This channel dissects the stories and legacies of Broadway shows. My favorites include the episode about the infamous Spiderman Musical and Carrie.

Terrell

If you don’t know Terrell, where have you been? In addition to recently having Chloe Bailey on, he also assisted in the comeback of Coco Jones. Other iconic episodes include VINCINT, Amber Riley, and the Clark Sisters.

Tiffany Ferg

Her Internet Analysis series is so interesting! One of my favorite things online, and there’s really an episode for everyone. There’s even one on Target!

Company Man

Company Man talks about exactly what you think, companies. Whether it’s the rise and fall of companies, the resurgence of formerly struggling ones, or just their histories and scandals it’s always super interesting to listen to during the day.

If you love music…

Cardboard Box by Flo

This is the debut single from a UK girl group that I am obsessed with. Think of it like a new school twist of the old school R&B girl group.

Should’ve Said No by Taylor Swift

It’s just a song that has stood the test of time. If you know you know, if you don’t then listen and learn.

Meet Me at Our Spot by Willow (and others)

I think we’re all currently obsessed with Willow’s music. Also her new song with PinkPantheress has been in the mix since it dropped a few days ago.

breadwinner by Kacey Musgraves

It’s a perfect song, argue amongst yourselves. My fiance even belts it out on his own.

If you like audiobooks…

Act Your Age Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

Act Your Age, Eve Brown Audiobook by Talia Hibbert - 9781405549479 | Rakuten Kobo New Zealand

This is probably recognizable from my latest book review post, but this book really is a great one to have in your ear during the workday. A romance about a girl finally taking some responsibility for her own life and future with a (charmingly) uptight new boss!

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

The Wedding Date: Guillory, Jasmine: 9780593098394: Amazon.com: Books

This blog will always sing Jasmine Guillory’s praises, you already know this!

Know My Name by Chanel Miller

Know My Name: A Memoir: Miller, Chanel: 9780735223707: Books: Amazon.com

This book is heavy, it honestly made me debate adding it to the list. But I think listening to it at work did not take away from the book’s impact for me while also allowing me to be just “out of it” enough to not be negatively impacted by it’s content. There’s still triggers, and trauma but it’s just an incredible book, which is why it was my favorite book I read last year.

Of course, I’m always going to tell you to listen to your audiobooks on Libby and support your local libraries. But, what do you listen to at work? Let me know in the comments!
