So, as we close out the month of January I think the last thing we should talk about it health and fitness. So, here is how I have been trying to stay fit and focus on my total health to kick off 2021.
As a disclaimer, I am not a registered dietician or nutritionist, so my word should not and is not intended to be taken as law. I have taken a few nutrition classes at dance summer intensives and follow a lot of nutritionists online for general advice. You can check out a few of my favorites like College Nutritionist or Abbey Sharp.
Diet
I do my best to implement fresh fruits and veggies into everything I do. I also am awful about eating, so like I mentioned in my Organization 101 video last week I meal plan ahead of time, but always remember to be flexible on what I eat based on how I’m feeling at any given time. Below I’m even gonna share a few of my favorite meals for each time!
Breakfast Ideas
- Greek yogurt with granola, frozen fruits (blueberries, strawberries, mangoes, and/or peaches)
- Kale or spinach smoothie
- Oatmeal
- Avocado toast with a fried egg on top
- Toast and Chicken Sausage
Lunch Ideas
- Kale and spinach salad with cherry or grape tomatoes, almonds, baby carrots, bell peppers, avocado, cucumber and homemade salad dressing
- Avocado toast with a fried egg on top
- Oven-roasted turkey rolls with cheese, baby carrots, bell peppers, and hummus on the side
- Pasta salad, check out this recipe I tried a few weeks ago
- Turkey wrap (or sandwich) with spinach, tomato, red onion, bell peppers, cheese and avocado, if I’m feeling fancy I will add bacon to this
- Beans and brown rice, I am obsessed with the Dozen Cousins beans for a quick meal
Dinner Ideas
This is definitely when I experiment, I even made tomato soup from scratch last week. But my go-to meals are often cooking shrimp on the stovetop with vegetables like green beans or Brussel sprouts on the side or making pasta with broccoli.
Exercise
I mentioned in my vision board blog but I love a good MadFit workout. I usually do a few dance workouts and then a targeted leg or ab workout as well. I’m linking a couple of sample playlists for my favorite workouts below. Please check them out and tell me what you think!

Mental Health
I think we can all agree the past year has been really rough for out mental and emotional health. I want to start by saying there is no way to have perfect mental health, but we can always try. I always end my day with three things I’m grateful for in my journal, and for my personal spiritual health I have an online bible study and pray each morning and night.
