I Tried Dozen Cousins Beans – Black Owned Grocery Store Find

So on my journey in trying (and reviewing) as many black owned products as I can get my hands on I came across a brand of black owned beans. If you didn’t know I’m the queen of quick hacks, I even have a whole series of Lazy Girl Guides on the blog. So when I saw that all I had to do was microwave these beans I knew I had to pick them up.

I got the Mexican cowboy beans after I came across them in Whole Foods on a random day. I kept them until a day I needed a quick work lunch and then just put them over a bowl of brown rice.

The beans are vegan and delicious, when I say delicious I mean it. They have just enough spice and I think adding these to a taco or even just topping with guacamole or sliced avocado could really take these to the next level. They were ready after about a minute in the microwave, making them a great choice if you’re short on time but still want something good.

I’m probably going to keep a couple of these in my cabinet for busy work days, for a lunch between meetings and large projects. I also really want to try their Trini Chickpea Curry, but they have refried beans and Cuban Black Beans.

Have you guys ever tried these? Let me know in the comments, and suggest another business for me to try!

You can find Dozen Cousins at Whole Foods like I did, or you can order them in a variety pack from Amazon.
