So, on my quest to shop from black-owned businesses when I can, I decided to give Honey Pot a try. Honey Pot made waves back in February 2020, when a Target ad featuring the owner went viral. Ever since the product was sold out whenever I needed a restock on pads, but I finally got my hands on them. I want to start a couple disclaimers on this review, I’m not reviewing this brand based on any claims that it helps shorten your period or lighten your flow, because science has no evidence that those claims are true and as I’ve mentioned before, I listen to the professionals.
Packaging: 4/5
I have no complaints about the product packaging, I think it limits waste, saves space, and is easy to grab from if you like to store your products in their original packages.
Accessibility: 3/5
I think pads should be accessible, both in price and availability. I think the price is comparable to any other major brand, so it’s pricing accessible, but my issue with the brand is that finding the product is way too difficult for the amount of distribution they have. You can buy at most major grocery stores and drugstores like Walgreens and on Target and Amazon.
Effectiveness: 3/5
I purchased three different sizes: the panty liners, super, and overnight. I experienced some leaking issues with the super pads, which makes me hesitant to give it anything over a 3 for effectiveness. I think you should give it a try and decide if it’s right for you. The pads also have herbal properties, and while I think the cooling sensation provided by mint was nice but I don’t think it helped with cramps the way their website claims.
Is it worth it: 4/5
I’d buy these again for sure, but I don’t think the super is the most effective for some of my worst days which is keeping from a 5/5. I think the accessibility is a strike against it but wouldn’t stop me from picking these up when I see them on my run to the grocery store.
