It’s finally the holiday season! I’m doing my own version of Blogmas where I post twice a week (YAY!). Christmas is my favorite holiday and my playlist is definitely longer than 10 songs but here are some essentials that no one should ever miss out on.
1. All I Want for Christmas is You – Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey is the face of Christmas, not Santa Claus but Mimi. And this a holiday classic that must never be ignored so here it is as the first mention on the list.
2. 8 Days of Christmas – Destiny’s Child
If you don’t know this hit you’ve been missing out your entire life. If my boo bought me Chloe shades and diamond belly ring I’d write him a song too.
3. Every Year, Every Christmas – Luther Vandross
Mariah Carey is the face of Christmas and Luther is her right hand during the holidays. Every Year, Every Christmas is truly a hit and you should download it right now.
4. Mistletoe – Justin Bieber
Listen, Justin did what needed to be done on this track. Mistletoe is so catchy that I honestly can’t imagine a holiday season without it.
5. Christmas with My Girl – Mindless Behavior
Christmas with My Girl by Mindless Behavior is probably an underrated new classic. Ray Ray put it best when he told us our presence was the only present that he really wanted.
6. Santa Baby – Eartha Kitt
Santa Baby is a classic and was a City Girls song before the JT and Resha ever hit the scene. Definitely a necessary addition.
7. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – Mariah Carey
I told you all before, Mariah Carey is synonymous with Christmas.
8. This Christmas – Chris Brown
Yes, I know I am probably a regional director of the “Chris Brown Should Go to Jail” committee but we all have weaknesses and this movie and the song are just, I am weak and nostalgic for childhood and Chris Brown’s This Christmas is my childhood.
9. Last Christmas – Wham!
RIP George Michael and thank you for such an amazing Christmas classic.
10. Santa Claus is Coming to Town – Jackson 5
I mean, baby Michael Jackson is just so cute on the track!
What are your favorite Christmas songs? Did I snub any bops you consider classics? Let me know in the comments.
PS: Sorry I’ve been away so long. The semester is ending and college is trying to kick my butt.
