Who doesn’t love a day or night of self-care? Taking a moment to take care of yourself is extremely important, but sometimes the big-ticket ideas like massages or facials can often be costly, so here are some of my favorite ways to take care of myself.
1. Use a sheet mask
Taking care of your skin is a great way to relax and sheet masks are a cheap skincare treat. Some of my favorites are the Garnier Moisture Bomb masks and the hydrating and purifying Neutrogena Hydroboost masks which should both be less than $3!
2. Light some candles
Relaxing scents are a great way to practice self-care. Grab an affordable one and light it for a night in.
3. Meditation Apps
There are a ton of meditation apps in the App Store all you have to do is find the right one for you. I’d definitely check out Headspace or Calm. This is definitely a self-care activity that can be done every few days.
4. Journal
Another idea that can be done every day or so. Write down your thoughts, what you want to improve, anything really. It’s great to get your thoughts out there like that is great for your mental health.
5. Clean Your Room/Apartment/House
Your room can often be a reflection of your headspace at the time so taking a moment to clean it up can help you feel better too! Trust me.
What are your cheap ways to take care of yourself? Let me know in the comments!

Listennn, I needed these tips! I love the spa but I don’t always have time go. Then the stress of not being able to get there compounds the stress that led me to need to go. It’s a vicious cycle LOL
I’ll definitely be trying these tips out!
These are all great ways to practice self-care. I journal daily and write a list of things I grateful for that happened that day. I try to keep my room a clutterless as possible and put on a diffuser with essential oils before bed.
Great post! I am a big fan of all of the above (except maybe the cleaning!).
I find writing absolutely helps me. Also, reading a book or magazine takes my mind off things and helps me relax away from a screen.
Abide and Headspace are two of my favourite meditation apps – I didn’t believe in meditation at first andof course it doesn’t solve all of your problems but it makes a MASSIVE difference! Great post!
I’m always cleaning but I don’t think that is meditation for me. For me, I reflect while in the shower or turn off the radio on the way home from work.
I love this
Interesting post! I just might try these! Keep up the good work (:
I use Oak for my meditation! I’m going to buy a scented candle soon!
Self care has been something I heavily implemented for myself this year. Writing in a journal every (almost every) morning has been the one I’ve been the most consistent with. That and my face and hair care. Other inexpensive options are reading, doing an at home mani and pedi or exercising to a YouTube video.
I love that you including meditation applications. I use simple habit every day and I really love it. It can help more than people know.
Candles and journaling have definitely been my lifesaver! Love that I can easily get destressd for so little
Exactly what I need! With small children, its important to take a time just for ourselves as mums.
I have never tried a sheet mask and to be honest they look a little creepy LOL. However I do like a good mud or sea kelp mask, I am sure that still counts.
Short but sweet, your article and I do all these things. I am happy to see the big candle picture as I love candles to create a beautiful soft light all year round. Masks, I just bought one and cleaning is very comforting. Journalling, I have done for years ideally in very pretty journals and I suppose blogging is a way of journalling as well.
Thank you for the helpful tips! I’d like to add yoga breathing exercises, taking time for a great breakfast (I blog from home) and walks in nature.
I love your simple budget-friendly self- care tips. So easy to do at home.
Love lighting candles to make myself feel better! Once I get everything cleaned up in the house, it’s a great way to unwind and bring some sort of peace into your home.
Cleaning is one of my favorite forms of self-care, especially when I can turn on some music and be home by myself to get it done. There’s something so rewarding about having a clean house.
These are awesome ways to practice self care! I love using sheet masks and taking bubble baths.
