So, this summer I decided to take my boyfriend on a food tour of my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. Although my city is not that well known, despite almost making it to the Super Bowl last year (shout out to the Jaguars). I wanted him to try some of my favorite spots
Happy Grilled Cheese
Happy Grilled Cheese is a food truck that serves designer grilled cheese sandwiches that happen to be completely delicious. I got the California Melt which had three cheeses, turkey, bacon, tomato, & avocado while he tried the Buffalo Chicken Melt which included pepper jack cheese, blue cheese, mozzarella, grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, jalapenos, a ranch drizzle.

Maple Street Biscuit Company
Maple Street Biscuit Company is a Jacksonville bred franchise, and when I say it is fantastic it is amazing. However there are plenty of locations outside of Jacksonville, including in Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia. I got the Sticky Maple which is a biscuit in maple syrup, with fried chicken breast and bacon while Devin tried the Reinhold which is a biscuit with all natural fried chicken breast, crunchy dill pickles, house made honey mustard.
Devin’s Rating: 9/10 (however he tasted mine and said if he’d ordered that he would’ve given it a perfect 10)
Bento Cafe Asian Kitchen and Sushi
Bento is actually a company out of Gainesville, Florida but I love the “Bento Red” location in Jacksonville. I always get a Bento Box and then split some sushi with my friend, and get a Boba smoothie.
Devin ordered the Sriracha Garlic Chicken Bento Box while I got the Chicken and Vegetable Stir fry box, we shared a specialty sushi roll that I can’t remember the name of, and respectively ordered the strawberry blended ice and coffee milk tea bobas.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice
I love Jeremiah’s Italian Ice which only exists in Florida as far as I know. Devin ordered the cookies and cream ice with vanilla softserve which I got the mango ice served with the same ice cream.

Publix Chicken Tender Sub
If you know anyone from Florida then you know we treat Publix as both a grocery store and a restaurant, and the chicken tender sub is a delicacy. I let him order his sandwich by himself, since I was sharing mine with a friend so I have no clue what he put on it. However, we were at a Publix in Miami and my order was not as good as my usual at home, but still fantastic. Apologies for this photo quality I am not a food photographer!

Where do you live? What are restaurants at home that you swear by? Let me know in the comments!

This sounds like so much fun! I would so do this my other half if he wasn’t such a fussy eater hahaha! Wherever we go, he makes sure they have cheeseburgers and chicken fingers, it’s honestly a bit disappointing, but it is what it is I guess lol
I have to find the Happy Grilled Cheese truck–that looks amazing! And the Jeremiah’s Italian Ices look like they are out of this world!
They’re literally amazing!
Wow, what an awesome restaurant town! I’m jealous, such unique places!
What a great idea. Allows your boyfriend to really get to know your taste in food. The Bento meal looks amazing. I live in Durban, South Africa. We are famous for our Durban mutton curries. There are many places that serve a great curry but my best friend aces everyone else.
wow! you had a great food safari!
Oh wow! All of this looks amazing! As a Brit, one of the things that is attractive about the US is the food. This post supports that. 😆
Lol being from the south makes US food even more fun trust me
The Asian kitchen and sushi looks great! I love Aidan food, can’t go wrong with sweet and sour with noodles it’s a staple for eating out but cooked correctly tastes great
I could totally go for an Italian ice right now, and the ones you got look so good!
A food tour sounds absolutely amazing honestly. I live in LA and there are so many restaurants here and –with my best friend coming in soon– maybe I’ll do something like this! That would be incredibly fun.
Thanks for sharing! x
