So, it’s definitely my favorite time of year. I love the joy in little kids eyes, the laughter you have with family, the decorations, the smell of Christmas trees and so much more. So, in order to spread some christmas cheer here are some things you can do with your friends and family this christmas:
A gingerbread house building competition
This activity is super fun and can honestly become a tradition. Buy a couple of boxes of gingerbread houses and Christmas cookies and get to building. It can be a group activity or turn it into a competition. My younger cousin and I have been doing this on Christmas Eve since I was in around the 8th grade and it’s honestly one of my favorite parts of the season.
Decorate Christmas ornaments
I personally haven’t done this since I was in elementary school but this could turn out to be super fun. You could sit around with friends and family and create ornaments to either trade or put on your tree. It’s a touch of personalization to make Christmas just a tad more jolly!
Drive through lights in your hometown
I know where I grew up there is a drive through lights set up near my house. You turn on Christmas music and watch the lights elaborate light display dance around you. It’s simple but super fun none the less.
Your local zoo’s zoolights
Like the local lights display, most zoos have a zoolights presentation. Head over and enjoy the beauty and holiday spirit of it all.
Volunteer
Not only is it the season to be jolly, but it’s also the season to give back! Ring the bell for Salvation Army, help distribute toys after a toy drive, volunteer as a soup kitchen. Make sure to give back in addition to receiving.
Hot chocolate and Christmas movies
It’s simple and fun. My personal favorites are The Grinch and This Christmas. Snuggle under a blanket and sip on some hot cocoa.

I do the hot cocoa and Christmas movies with my girls. When I did have a significant other we built Gingerbread houses together. It really makes the Holiday more delightful !
I love driving around looking at Christmas lights!
We always drive around to look at Christmas lights in our neighborhood but we are actually doing Hot Cocoa and Christmas movies this year for Christmas Eve. Great recommendations and I want to try the gingerbread house competition for next year.
We’re actually starting the tradition of building a ginger bread house! I also love driving through the neighborhood with extravagant lights!
My family decorates gingerbread houses every! It is so fun and the kids get to be creative.
