Hair has always been extremely important to me. I don’t know quite why but I think it’s because it’s one of the few things that can make my ginormous head look relatively normal sized. So when I told my mom a year ago I was going natural it was kind of a big deal, and it was also a big argument. Who’s gonna take care of it, I don’t need you looking crusty, she even made me come to her with future plans for my hair because in her words she “didn’t need me going outside looking a mess.” (In my opinion it’s because I’ve had a relaxer since I was like 8 and since I’d just graduated it was another sign that I was growing up to her.) So I did my research, showed her protective styles, and decided to start my natural hair journey with a year long transition. Now it is May of 2016 and I big chopped. I’m actually proud of myself, I didn’t freak out. I wasn’t even necessarily scared just anxious of what would be my next step. I was/still am extremely concerned that my head looks too big or that I’m mad bald headed. So now here’s my journey in pictures! ☺️
